Comenius Multilateral Project "TOLERANCE as a Key to Social Integration Into European Dimension for Young Citizens: “Tolerance games”

Different “Tolerance Games” were held in our school not only by the Comenius students, but also by several of our classes.
These were the statements discussed:
-          Disabled youngsters should attend special schools.
-          In the labour market, women are as capable as men of performing certain tasks.
-          Our government should prohibit immigration.

All the students were very interested in these topics… they shared their thoughts, heard all kinds of different and interesting points of view and sometimes, after these vivid discussions, they changed their minds.

“TOLERANCE as a Key to Social Integration Into European Dimension for Young Citizens” - “ Adopting... grandparents and grandchildren”

During our discussions about “Tolerance” and what it is to be tolerant, our Comenius students concluded that a great percentage of elderly people are living in "social isolation”, sometimes even at risk of abuse or neglect. So, determined to help older people, who have never had families, have outlived them or just can't possibly be in touch with them, some of the Comenius students visited an elderly care home.

During this visit, we shared experiences, listened to special personal histories,  built bonds which will endure in time... and we promised to go back for more visits!

During this European meeting there were ice-breaking activities which allowed the students to get to know each other and to make new friends; students´ presentations about the schools, countries and the project´s theme; field trips to food processing companies like Caves Ferreira (Porto Wine)  and Imperial (chocolate factory) and some time to visit the cities of Porto and Viana do Castelo. However, the main activity was a practical workshop, which took place at  ESEIG - Escola Superior de Estudos Industriais e de Gestão, in Vila do Conde,  during which students and teachers had the opportunity to cook and taste some traditional Portuguese recipes like Caldo Verde, Rojões à moda do Minho and Papos de Anjo.
